University of Auckland Owen Glenn Building

The University of Auckland, established in 1883. Currently New Zealand’s largest university and is well recognized around the world.

These photos are of the Owen G Glenn building, characterized as “a series of layered sinuous blades anchored by a central atrium.”

I had the pleasure of attending a course in 2008 held in the Own G Building and can say the lecturer rooms are very impressive. The air conditioning to new seating arrangements provide a comfortable atmosphere to sit through boring lectures. Gone are the days of over head projectors with transparent sheets.

Please feel free to browse through some of the exterior shots of the building.

A shot taken of leafless trees down Symonds Street in Auckland.
I love the texture and patterns of the trees.
It also creates an tunnel effect which draws the eyes along the footpath.
The mood and tone brings back memories of my University years.
In short, Bitter sweet.
